Tracking foveated corner clusters using affine structure - Computer Vision, 1993. Proceedings., Fourth International Conference on

We describe a novel method of obtaining a fixation point on a moving object f o r a real-time gaze contml sys tem. The method makes use of a real-time implementat ion of a corner detector and tracker and recons tructs the image posi t ion of the desired fixation point from a cluster of corners detected on the object using the affine structure available f r o m t w o or three views. The method is fas t , reliable, viewpoint invariant , and insensitive t o occlusion a n d / o r individual corner dropout or reappearence. W e present results for the method in use with a high p e r f o m a c e head/eye platform, and compare the results wi th two naive fixation methods.
